Community Acupuncture

April 2021:  Community Acupuncture is open again!  Due to Covid, each person will have his/her/their own room so this is no longer a walk-in service.  Please schedule your appointment ahead of time.

Community Acupuncture makes acupuncture accessible and affordable to all.

Sessions are $20-$40 per treatment – you decide what you can afford, no questions asked.  Acupuncture works best for many conditions when you can have regular, frequent treatment.  For some people, the cost of one-on-one sessions makes it difficult to get as much acupuncture as needed.  By treating people in a group setting, community acupuncture can offer high quality personalized care to each patient at a lower fee.  You can come as often and for as long as you need in order to feel better.

Community Acupuncture treats people in a group setting.  You are on a treatment table with up to 2 other people in the room. Treatments are simple and concise and are done with minimal talking.

Everyone remains fully clothed.  The points used are on the front of the body – arms, legs, hands, feet, and head.  Once you take off your shoes and socks, roll your sleeves up to the elbow and your pants up to the knee and get comfortable.

Treatment is tailored to your specific symptoms.  The acupuncturist will talk with you briefly about your concerns and then begin the treatment.

Treatment lasts 30-60 minutes.  Most people find their treatment very relaxing.  Some even fall asleep.  Please let the acupuncturist know ahead of time if you need to be up at a particular time.

Acupuncture is a process.  Most people feel relief from their symptoms right away.  Some symptoms take more time to change.  Most folks need a series of treatments to get good, long lasting results.  At your first session, we’ll recommend a plan of treatment and discuss this with you to come up with something that works for your schedule and your budget.

Community Acupuncture vs. One-on-One sessions.  One-on-one sessions take place in a private room.  These sessions are best for certain types of back and shoulder pain, for folks who want or need cupping and warming therapies, and for people who want privacy during their treatment.

Some patients use community acupuncture to supplement one-on-one sessions, or if something acute comes up that would benefit from more than one acupuncture session a week.  Other patients predominantly do community acupuncture, with an occasional one-on-one session mixed in.  If you are not sure which option is best for you, get in touch via phone or email and we’ll do a free consult to help you figure it out.
