Acupuncture is a process. Most people feel relief from their symptoms right away. Some symptoms take more time to change. Most folks need a series of treatments to get good, long lasting results. At your first session, we’ll recommend a plan of treatment and discuss this with you to come up with something that works for your schedule and your budget.
Acupuncture works best for many conditions when you can have regular, frequent treatment. We offer both one-on-one and community acupuncture sessions, so that no matter what your budget or your schedule, you can receive high quality, personalized care. With these treatment options, you can come as often and for as long as you need in order to feel better.
One-on-One sessions vs. Community Acupuncture. One-on-one sessions take place in a private room, and you are the sole focus of the acupuncturist for the entire 60-90 minutes of the treatment. These sessions are best for people who want privacy during their treatment, for folks who are sensitive to their surroundings and relax best when alone, and for certain types of back and shoulder pain. One-on-one sessions also allow for the full range of techniques to be used in treatment.
In Community Acupuncture sessions, you are in a group setting. The points used are on the front of the body only – arms, legs, hands, feet, and head. You sit in the chair, take off your shoes and socks and roll your sleeves up to the elbow and your pants up to the knee and get comfortable. We provide pillows and blankets to make things cozy.
Some patients use community acupuncture to supplement one-on-one sessions, or if something acute comes up that would benefit from more than one acupuncture session a week. Other patients predominantly do community acupuncture, with an occasional one-on-one session mixed in.
